Serial killers as celebrities of modern culture

Niniejsza praca dotyczy zagadnienia seryjnego mordercy i wpływu, jaki wywiera on na społeczeństwo. Praca charakteryzuje seryjnych morderców na przykładzie poszczególnych przypadków ukazując ich cechy osobowości oraz motywacje kierujące nimi do popełnienia zbrodni. Skupia się także na ukazaniu obrazu seryjnych morderców w popkulturze, na przykładzie kina, telewizji, internetu, czy literatury. W pracy przybliżono wybrane aspekty fascynacji społecznej, jednocześnie wyjaśniając zjawiska murderbilii i hybrystofilii. Praca ukazuje proces, w którym seryjni mordercy za pośrednictwem rozgłosu medialnego, zyskują status celebryty.

The following thesis adresses the problem of serial killers and their influence on the society.The thesis characterizes serial killers on the example of individual cases showing their personality traits and the motivations that drive them to commit crimes. It also focuses on showing the image of serial killers in pop culture, using cinema, television, the Internet, and literature as examples. The author takes a closer look at selected aspects of social fascination, while explaining the phenomena of murderbilia and hybristophilia. The thesis shows the process by which serial killers gain celebrity status.
