The status of the Roma in Poland in the years 1918-2021 - selected issues

The aim of this thesis is to present the situation of the Roma population in Poland over the last century, with particular emphasis on the problems resulting from the Romaness. The presentation of the history of the Roma nation and its general characteristics allowed to answer the question of what causes the stereotypes about the described minority rooted in the society. The paper also presents historical aspects influencing the current situation of the Roma, such as the period of World War II or the realities of the People's Republic of Poland. The analysis of the state's attitude over the years made it possible to evaluate the contemporary living conditions of the Roma population in Poland.

Celem niniejszej pracy dyplomowej jest przedstawienie sytuacji ludności romskiej w Polsce na przestrzeni ostatniego stulecia, skupiając się w głównej mierze na problemach wynikających z romskości. Przybliżenie historii narodu romskiego oraz jego ogólnej charakterystyki, pozwoliło odpowiedzieć na pytanie z czego wynikają zakorzenione w społeczeństwie stereotypy dotyczące opisywanej mniejszości. W pracy przedstawione zostały również historyczne aspekty wpływające na obecną sytuację Romów, jak okres II wojny światowej, czy realia komunistycznej Rzeczypospolitej Ludowej. Analiza stosunku państwa na przestrzeni lat ułatwiła ocenę współczesnych warunków życia ludności romskiej w Polsce.
