Structure and determinants of border guard activity in Poland after joining the Schengen area

This thesis presents the origins of the formation that is the Border Guard and how it evolved to the one known today. The structure and legal conditions were characterized. Then the process of Poland's accession to the Schengen Agreement was described. The fundamental factors shaping the activity of the Border Guard after the Republic of Poland's accession to the structures of the Schengen Agreement were indicated. The thesis also shows the important role of the Border Guard in the crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border and during the migration crisis of 2015. The work additionally includes the characteristics of selected cross-border crimes, moreover, it focuses attention on cooperation with international institutions in the elimination of these crimes.

Niniejsza praca przedstawia genezę powstania formacji jaką jest Straż Graniczna i jak ewoluowała do znanej współcześnie. Scharakteryzowana została struktura oraz uwarunkowania prawne. Następnie został opisany proces przystąpienia Polski do układu z Schengen. Wskazane zostały czynniki zasadnicze kształtujące działalność Straży Granicznej po wstąpieniu Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej w struktury układu z Schengen. W pracy ukazano również ważną rolę Straży Granicznej w kryzysie na granicy polsko-białoruskiej oraz w czasie kryzysu migracyjnego z 2015 roku. Praca zawiera dodatkowo charakterystykę wybranych przestępstw transgranicznych, co więcej skupia uwagę na współpracy z instytucjami międzynarodowymi w ramach likwidacji tychże przestępstw.
