Różne oblicza szaleństwa kobiet w "Hamlecie" i "Makbecie" Williama Szekspira

The purpose of my thesis is to present the universality of mad female characters presented in Hamlet and Macbeth, by William Shakespeare. By close reding of the particular excerpts from the plays, I woud also like to analyse the genesis of madness and its manifestation both, in the plot, and in the language that Lady Macbeth and Ophelia operate. My thesis consists of two parts, in which I analyse and interpret the events in plotline that are essential while discussing the motif of Lady Macbeth's and Ophelia's madness, supplying my opinion with experts' literary criticism. The conclusion of my thesis is based on several aspects, such as events in the plotline and language of the characters, taken into account. Thus, I would like to compare how different, yet equally interesting, are women presented in Macbeth and Hamlet and that they remain inexhaustible source of inspiration for various artists.

Celem niniejszej pracy jest ukazane jak ponadczasowy i uniwersalny jest motyw szaleństwa w twórczości Szekspira oraz jak szerokie spektrum możliwości interpretacji, a zarazem wyzwań dla artystów stanowi tenże motyw. Pracę oparłam na dwóch postaciach kobiecych, z najsłynniejszych szekspirowskich dramatów "Hamlet" i "Makbet", którymi są Ofelia i Lady Makbet. Analizując wypowiedzi Ofelii i Lady Makbet, a także, wydarzenia w fabule istotne dla ukazania motywu szaleństwa obydwóch kobiet, wywnioskowałam że rzeczony motyw w dramatach Szekspira, stanowi niewyczerpane źródło inspiracji dla wielu artystów.
