Artykuł jest próbą opisania "teatralnego wymiaru" jednej z najoryginalniejszych próz Álvaro Cunquiero "Xente de aquí e acolá "z perspektywy przekładu międzyjęzykowego. Metafora teatralna stanowi dziś jedną z najważniejszych kategorii opisu współczesnego świata i określana jest jako teatralność (Teatralność) (Weber, [2004], 2009) lub performans (MacKenzie, [2001], 2011), natomiast wpływ teatru na inne przestrzenie sztuki i obszary rzeczywistości jest prawdopodobnie tak stary, jak sam teatr. The article attempts to describe the "theatrical dimension" of one of the most original books by Álvaro Cunquiero, Xente de aquí e acolá, from the perspective of interlingual translation. The metaphor of theater is one of the most important categories to describe the contemporary world and defined as theatricality (Weber, [2004], 2009) or performance (MacKenzie, [2001], 2011), meanwhile the impact of theater on other art spaces and areas of reality is probably as old as the theater itself. The collective portrait of Galician people recorded on the pages of Xente de aquí e acolá is rooted in orality, which is the basis and medium of the portrayed culture and its social transmission, as well as a broader frame in which the staging, theatrical character of Cunqueiro's prose is inscribed. Its translations into Spanish Polish and English transfer this virgin construction of an imagined community from the space of speech to the level of writing. An analysis of the multilingual series of translations Xente de aquí e acolá offers a comparative view of this text space which stretches between the spoken and written words.

O artigo é un intento de describir a "dimensión teatral" dunha das prosas máis orixinais de Álvaro Cunquiero Xente de aquí e acolá desde a perspectiva da tradución interlingüística. A metáfora do teatro constitúe hoxe unha das categorías máis importantes na descrición do mundo contemporáneo, e defínese como teatralidade (theatricality) (Weber, [2004], 2009) ou performance (MacKenzie, [2001], 2011), mentres que o impacto do teatro noutros espazos de arte e áreas da realidade probablemente sexa tan antigo como o teatro en si. O retrato colectivo dos persoeiros galegos rexistrado nas páxinas de Xente de aquí e acolá está enraizado na oralidade, que forma a base e o medio da cultura retratada e a súa transmisión social, así como un marco máis amplo no que inscríbese o carácter escénico da prosa de Cunqueiro. As súas traducións ao castelán, polaco e inglés trasladan esta virxe construción dunha comunidade imaxinada dende o espazo da fala ata o nivel de escritura.
