Secondary characters of the dictatorship getting a voice : main aspects of Chilean "literature of sons and daughters" on example of Alejandro Zambras "Formas de volver a casa"

This paper aims to explore the main characteristics of Chilean literature of sons and daughters in which the generation of authors who spent their childhood during Pinochet’s military regime (1973-1990) problematizes within their fictional writings a question of the rights for their own memory of this period, even though as a children they did not have enough political knowledge to understand a reality of that historical moment. The reflections are mainly organized around Alejandro Zambra’s short novel Formas de volver a casa, considered as a canonical example of the narrative of the Chilean dictatorship’s second generation writers.
