La presse spectatoriale et ses exemples en Europe
"The Spectator" by J. Addison and R. Steele, as well as his many successors and imitators, left a mark on European culture. This phenomenon has already fascina-ted many researchers and still does not cease to arouse admiration. In this article, which is more of a quantitative than a qualitative study, we list these European periodicals that were born in this moral and social “spectatorial” tradition to show a whole wealth of its inspirations, translations and retranslations. In addition, we show here some examples of the “non-spectatorial” press which nevertheless take advantage of the idea of looking through the anonymous eyes of the public, even revealing a certain tendency towards a type of journalistic voyeurism.
