Sexuality as an element in the construction of individual identity. On the example of the experiences of young residents of Krakow

Seksualność stanowi istotny element tożsamości jednostki. Celem niniejszej pracy jest ukazanie związku pomiędzy znaczeniem nadawanym seksualności przez młodych ludzi, heteronormatywnych i nieheteronormatywnych, a procesem konstruowania tożsamości jednostkowej. Zaprezentowane zostały w niej dyskusje toczące się wokół pojęć seksualności i tożsamości, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem koncepcji Anthony’ego Giddensa oraz Manuela Castellsa, jeżeli chodzi o rozumienie tożsamości. Integralną częścią pracy są wnioski analityczne, wysunięte na podstawie wyników badań, przeprowadzonych na grupie młodzieży zamieszkującej Kraków. Badania własne zrealizowano za pomocą indywidualnego wywiadu pogłębionego, wykorzystując uzupełniająco metodę photovoice.

Sexuality is an important part of an individual's identity. The purpose of this paper is to show the relationship between the meaning given to sexuality by young people, heteronormative and non-heteronormative, and the process of constructing individual identity. It presents the discussions taking place around the concepts of sexuality and identity, with a particular focus on the concepts of Anthony Giddens and Manuel Castells when it comes to understanding identity. An integral part of the work are analytical conclusions, made on the basis of the results of the study, conducted on a group of young people living in Krakow. The own research was carried out by means of an individual in-depth interview, with the complementary use of the photovoice method.
