Czesław Miłosz and the 21st century

This volume inaugurates the "Kontynenty" (Continents) series, which aims to explore the work of the author of "Native Realm" and to continue his thought in the context of current challenges and in relation to the critical consciousness of the 21st century developed across various sciences. The diversity of intellectual background and artistic sensitivity of the authors of the articles collected here and the issues they address corresponds to the scale of Miłosz's own interests and signals the transdisciplinary nature of the series. The book includes contributions by eminent representatives of international Milosz studies: Clare Cavanagh, Aleksander Fiut, Sherman Garnett, Mindaugas Kvietkauskas, Ryszard Nycz, Łukasz Tischner and Joanna Zach, as well as poets, essayists, cultural animators and scientists for whom the work of the author of "The Garden of Science" is an important partner in creative dialogue, including Krzysztof Czyżewski, Ireneusz Kania, Krzysztof Meissner, Lillian Vallee and Adam Zagajewski.

Niniejszy tom inauguruje serię Kontynenty, mającą na celu badanie twórczości autora Rodzinnej Europy i kontynuowanie jego myśli w kontekście aktualnych wyzwań oraz w relacji do rozwijanej na gruncie różnych nauk świadomości krytycznej XXI wieku. Różnorodność proweniencji intelektualnej i wrażliwości artystycznej autorów zgromadzonych tu tekstów oraz podejmowanej przez nich problematyki odpowiada skali zainteresowań samego Miłosza i sygnalizuje transdyscyplinarny charakter serii.
