Issues of managing arthouse cinemas in Kielce with different legal status

The subject of this work is to present the issues of arthouse cinema management on the example of arthouse cinemas in Kielce: the Moskwa cinema and the Fenomen cinema. The aim of the work is to compare two organizations with a similar cultural mission operating in different legal forms. The first part presents the conditions of functioning and financing of cultural institutions and arthouse cinemas, as well as the context of cultural management in various sectors. Then, the focus was on the justification of the selected research methodology – qualitative and quantitative, and the main research techniques, which were individual interviews with representatives of the surveyed cinemas and an expert in the field of financing culture. The analysis of the interviews and the existing data allowed to obtain information on the differences in the functioning of arthouse cinemas with different legal status and showed the conditions of operation of these specific cases. The work complements the current state of research, which lacks a look at arthouse cinemas operating in different sectors and the resulting dependencies.

Tematem niniejszej pracy jest przedstawienie problematyki zarządzania kinami studyjnymi na przykładzie kieleckich kin studyjnych: kina Moskwa oraz kina Fenomen. Celem pracy jest porównanie dwóch organizacji o podobnej misji kulturalnej działających w odmiennych formach prawnych. W pierwszej części ukazane zostały uwarunkowania działania i finansowania instytucji kultury oraz kin studyjnych, a także kontekst zarządzania w kulturze w różnych sektorach. Następnie skupiono się na uzasadnieniu wybranej metodologii badań – jakościowo-ilościowej oraz głównych technik badawczych, jakimi były wywiady indywidualne z przedstawicielami badanych kin oraz ekspertką w zakresie finansowania kultury. Analiza wywiadów oraz danych zastanych pozwoliła na uzyskanie informacji na temat różnic w funkcjonowaniu kin studyjnych o różnym statusie prawnym oraz ukazała uwarunkowania działalności tych konkretnych przypadków. Praca uzupełnia obecny stan badań, w którym brakuje spojrzenia na kina studyjne działające w odmiennych sektorach i wynikających z tego zależności.
