The impact of war on child’s psyche and its adulthood. Trauma expressed in the literary and painterly works of Roma Ligocka.

The paper addresses the problem of war trauma, which was expressed in the literary and painterly works of Roma Ligocka – a victim of the Holocaust. The experience of the war destruction is clearly shown in the author's writings. Thus, the image of trauma in Ligocka's work is not only fundamental, but also forms the main idea of most of her memoirs. The aim of the work is to show the impact of the war on a child's psyche and its adulthood on the basis of an individual case.The paper covers the issue related not only to the history of trauma research, but also to its positive and negative consequences. Next, the impact of the war on Roma Ligocka's life is examined. In this part, the consequences of trauma, which the writer struggled with both in her childhood and adult life, are discussed. The last part of the work addresses the issue of Ligocka's struggle with her own trauma. The artist's literary and painterly works are a self-therapeutic way of expressing herself. Through art Ligocka accomplishes self-identification and self-definition. Thus, the writer's self-therapy has an unconventional character - it is a process of recovering and discovering herself.
