Motyw smoka w kulturze Imperium Romanum.

W niniejszej pracy zamierzam omówić motyw smoka w kulturze Cesarstwa Rzymskiego, czyli od ok. 30 r. p. n.e. do symbolicznego upadku Cesarstwa Zachodniorzymskiego w 476 r. n.e. za czasów panowania Romulusa Augustulusa. Moim celem będzie omówienie wybranych przeze mnie przykładów w rzeźbie, numizmatyce oraz smoczym sztandarze antycznego Rzymu, a także zaznaczenie obecności tego motywu w czerpiącej z grecko-rzymskich poprzedników kulturze judeochrześcijańskiej. Jednocześnie zamierzam podkreślić popularność wyrosłych z grecko-rzymskich oraz judeochrześcijańskich motywów we współczesnej kulturze popularnej, czyli podczas XX wieku oraz dwóch pierwszych dekad XXI wieku

In this paper, my intention is to discuss the dragon motif within the culture of the Roman Empire—specifically, from around 30 BC to the symbolic fall of the Western Roman Empire in 476 AD, during the reign of Romulus Augustulus. My aim is to examine chosen examples in sculpture, numismatics, and the dragon banner of ancient Rome. Additionally, I will explore its presence in Judeo-Christian culture, which draws inspiration from its Greco-Roman predecessors. Simultaneously, I plan to highlight the continued popularity of motifs derived from Greco-Roman and Judeo-Christian influences in contemporary popular culture, spanning the 20th century and the first two decades of the 21st century.
