El trabajo de grado trata sobre el conflicto histórico existente entre el pueblo Mapuche , habitante en el sur de Chile, y el Estado chileno- un conflicto que lleva vigente desde la formación de Chile como República. Se explica el contexto histórico de la problemática, que asentó sus raíces durante la pacificación de la Araucanía a fines del siglo XIX. Un hecho que marcó un antes y un después en la relación entre la comunidad originaria y el Estado y fue el origen de la disconformidad actual. Posteriormente son narradas las relaciones etnopolíticas en el siglo XX, de opresión, segregación y discriminación por parte de los diversos Gobiernos hacia los pueblos autóctonos, especialmente durante la dictadura militar. Se relata sobre el inicio del movimiento mapuche, de qué manera se formaron las organizaciones radicalizadas y por qué inició el conflicto. Igualmente se explican las demandas actuales del pueblo Mapuche, su lucha por el derecho a la autodeterminación y a la autonomía, y la deuda histórica que tiene Chile para con los pueblos originarios. Por último se analiza cómo han lidiado los diversos Gobiernos en el siglo XXI con respecto al problema, muchas veces recurriendo a la opresión y a la violencia estatal. Asimismo, se expone sobre la disputa respeto a la devolución de tierras, el conflicto armado en la actualidad y la posibilidad de que en algún futuro lejano exista la disposición de ambos, tanto del Estado como de las comunidades radicalizadas mapuche, de alcanzar una relación pacífica.
Niniejsza rozprawa dotyczy historycznego konfliktu między ludem Mapuche, mieszkańcami południowego Chile, a państwem chilijskim - konfliktu, który trwa od momentu powstania Chile jako republiki. Wyjaśnia historyczny kontekst problemu, który miał swoje korzenie w pacyfikacji Araukanii pod koniec XIX wieku. Stanowiło to punkt zwrotny w relacjach między pierwotną społecznością a państwem i było źródłem obecnego sporu. Następnie opisywane są stosunki etnopolityczne w XX wieku, z uciskiem, segregacją i dyskryminacją różnych rządów wobec rdzennej ludności, zwłaszcza w okresie dyktatury wojskowej. Opowiada historię początków ruchu Mapuche, jak powstały zradykalizowane organizacje i dlaczego rozpoczął się konflikt. Wyjaśnia również obecne żądania ludu Mapuche, ich walkę o prawo do samostanowienia i autonomii oraz historyczny dług Chile wobec rdzennej ludności. Wreszcie, analizuje sposób, w jaki różne rządy w XXI wieku radziły sobie z tym problemem, często uciekając się do ucisku i przemocy ze strony państwa. Omawia również spór o zwrot ziemi, obecny konflikt zbrojny i możliwość, że w odległej przyszłości zarówno państwo, jak i zradykalizowane społeczności Mapuczów będą chciały osiągnąć pokojowe relacje.
This thesis deals with the historical conflict between Mapuche ethnic Group, southern Chile inhabitants, and the Chilean State - a conflict that has been ongoing since the formation of Chile as a Republic. It explains the historical context of the problem, which had its roots during Araucanía pacification at the end of the 19th century. This event marked a before and after in the relationship between the native community and the State, being the origin of the current disagreement. Later, ethnical-political relations in the 20th century are narrated, describing oppression, segregation, and discrimination toward native people by different governments, particularly during the military dictatorship. It also talks about the beginning of the Mapuche movement, how the radicalized organizations were formed, and why the conflict started. It also explains the current demands of the Mapuche people, their struggle for the right to self-determination and autonomy, and the Chilean historical debt with indigenous peoples. Finally, it analyzes how the different governments in the 21st century have dealt with the problem, often resorting to oppression and state violence. It also discusses the dispute over land return, the current armed conflict, and possible willingness, from both the State and radicalized Mapuche communities, to eventually reach a peaceful relationship.
