Trade in products of the agricultural and food sector of Ukraine on the European Union market after the conclusion of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area

Praca opisuje jeden z najbardziej priorytetowych sektorów gospodarki ukraińskiej o wysokim potencjale produkcyjnym i eksportowym - sektor rolno-spożywczy. Integracja gospodarcza z Unią Europejską znajduje się wśród celi strategicznych Ukrainy, a sektor rolno-spożywczy może stać się podporą oraz jedną z głównych gałęzi we współpracy handlowej między Ukrainą a UE. Zawarcie między stronami Pogłębionej i kompleksowej umowy o wolnym handlu (DCFTA) jest motywacją dla Ukrainy do przeprowadzenia kluczowych reform w celu zwiększenia jakości własnej produkcji i tym samym polepszenia własnego potencjału eksportowego. Z tego powodu autorka postanowiła sprawdzić, w jaki sposób liberalizacja handlu, a mianowicie zawarcie wspomnianej umowy wpłynęło na wymianę handlową produktami sektora rolno-spożywczego Ukrainy z UE. Praca zawiera opis sektora rolno-spożywczego Ukrainy, historię stosunków handlowych między Ukrainą a UE, w tym informację na temat liberalizacji handlu oraz wyzwań przed którymi stoi Ukraina. Praca ocenia konkurencyjność ukraińskich produktów rolno-spożywczych, zmiany ich konkurencyjności oraz zmian w handlu Ukrainy produktami rolno-spożywczymi na rynku UE do i po zawarciu DCFTA.

The thesis describes one of the most priority sectors of the Ukrainian economy with high production and export potential - the agri-food sector. Economic integration with the European Union is among Ukraine's strategic goals, and the agri-food sector may become a mainstay and one of the main branches in trade cooperation between Ukraine and the EU. The conclusion of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) between the parties is a strong motivation for Ukraine to carry out key reforms in order to increase the quality of its own production and thus improve its export potential. For this reason, the author decided to check how the liberalization of trade, namely the conclusion of the aforementioned agreement, affected the trade exchange of products of the agricultural and food sector of Ukraine with the EU.The thesis contains a description of the agricultural and food sector of Ukraine, the history of trade relations between Ukraine and the EU, including information on trade liberalization and challenges facing Ukraine and evaluates the competitiveness of Ukrainian agri-food products, changes in their competitiveness and changes in Ukraine's trade in agri-food products on the EU market before and after the conclusion of the DCFTA.
