Frankenstein in Baghdad. Ahmed Saadawis image of war

This work is focused on analysing one of the most famous contemporary Arabic novels - 'Frankenstein in Baghdad' by Ahmed Saadawi - and the way in which the author presents the US invasion on Iraq and its' consequences for Iraqi society. This work discusses the perspective of the Iraqi author, the literary devices that he used and the symbolism, through which he struggles with the case of an armed conflict.

Niniejsza praca skupia się na analizie jednej z najgłośniejszych arabskich powieści ostatnich lat, "Frankensteina w Bagdadzie" autorstwa Ahmeda Saadawiego, oraz sposobu, w jaki autor przedstawił w niej amerykańską inwazję na Irak i jej konsekwencje dla irackiego społeczeństwa. W pracy omówiona zostanie perspektywa irackiego autora, zabiegi literackie, które zastosował w swoim dziele oraz symbolika, poprzez którą opowiada o problematyce konfliktu zbrojnego.
