Zum deutsch-polnischen interkulturellen Element in der polnischen Zeitschriftensprache der galizischen Zeit
The aim of this paper is to describe and examine the traces of German-Polish interculturality in the Polish newspapers, published in the area of the River San in the former Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria in 1885. That was the time when Galicia as a part of Austria-Hungary enjoyed the complete autonomy under Polish leadership. The influence of the German culture was not as strong as in the pre-autonomous period but it was still visible there. It was reflected in the form of
foreign words, borrowings and more or less successful translation loans, which, although constructed of original lexemes of the Polish language, clearly showed their German origin. The paper tries to show and assess the extent of the German intercultural influence on the official Polish language at that time as well as the way German lexis was assimilated into the Polish language.
