Lenin w Peru : rosyjskie imiona rewolucyjne w Ameryce Południowej
The October Revolution significantly influenced not only the change of the system in Russia and almost all aspects of the life of the country’s inhabitants but also the Russian anthroponymics. It was the first such big interference in the repertory of given names in Russia since the Christianization of Kievan Rus’ and the introduction of the sacrament of baptism in the late 10th century. The main aim of this paper is to present and classify the new names created in the early 1920’s to honour the Revolution, its symbols, and leaders. The second part of this work presents the contemporary use of these names in the Latin America. More than 100 hundred years after the October Revolution names like Lenin or Ilich are still being given in such countries like Peru, Mexico, or Venezuela.
