"Avocado fraud" : he police threaten prison, but the courts disagree

Kolejna sprawa z udziałem klientki, która postanowiła zaoszczędzić przy kasie samoobsługowej. Zamiast awokado i bananów skasowała tańsze jabłka, ale wpadła w ręce policji. Została osadzona w areszcie. W oficjalnym komunikacie policja straszy, że za "oszukiwanie" przy kasie grozi kobiecie 8 lat pozbawienia wolności. Jednak sądy coraz częściej uznają takie działania za kradzież, która do kwoty 800 zł jest tylko wykroczeniem. Nie da się oszukać kasy samoobsługowej.

Another case involving a customer who decided to save money at the self-service checkout. Instead of avocados and bananas, she chose cheaper apples, but ended up in the hands of the police. The woman was taken into custody. In an official communiqué, the police threatened that the perpetrator could face eight years in prison for 'cheating' at the checkout. However, the courts are increasingly recognising such acts as theft, which is only an offence up to 800 PLN. It is impossible to cheat at self-service checkouts.
