Human values expressed : an example of the application of linguistic analysis in the study of human values terminology in the Tajik language

Artykuł poświęcony jest problemowi jak wybrane wartości ludzkie (ambicja, wolność, uczciwość i pobożność) są wyrażane w języku tadżyckim. Badane są pola semantyczne poszczególnych form, tak aby możliwe było zrozumienie skojarzeń, które one wywołują u użytkowników języka. Analiza pola semantycznego wspomnianych leksemów może pomóc w ustaleniu miejsca danej wartości w hierarchii obowiązującej w danej kulturze.

The present article discusses the problem of how selected human values like ambition, freedom, honesty and piety are expressed in the Tajik language. The semantic fields of the forms in question is analysed in order to understand the associations and connotations they raise. Analysis of the semantic fields of language forms denoting a particular value may help us to understand the place of this value in the value hierarchy of some culture.
