"Nic innego się za nimi nie kryje, tylko rzeczy" : rola słowa we "Wrońcu" Jacka Dukaja

Main aim of presented paper is the analysis the role of words in Jacek Dukaj’s novel "Wroniec" (2009). This novel is seemingly aimed at children, but may be considered also as an allegorical novel for adult readers. The events are presented in the framework of children’s dream; also resemble fairy tales seen through the little boy’s eyes. Very important element of the poetic is language - verbal layer contains many new words: neologisms, modifications of known lexemes, words with changed spellings etc. These techniques cause that the language of Wroniec is similar to the children’s language. This can be interpreted in various ways, among others as a representation of the children’ss experience but also as a metaphor of experience the subject lost in the world. These and another interpretations are discussed in this paper.
