You won’t find such gardens in this world…
Discussion of the major circles of idyllicity, as discerned by the author who believes that remote, and at times polemic, references to the topic of the early periods are more of essence to modern literature than stylisations can be. On interpreting old and new works (from Juliusz Słowacki’s poem W Szwajcarii to Marek Bieńczyk’s novel Tworki), exposed traces of idyll in poetry (Bursa, Białoszewski) and prose (Schulz, Konwicki). A separate status was assigned to pseudo-idyllic images in socialist-realist pieces and the fake idyll of the life of men-of-letters at the ‘creative work resort’ in Obory. The book is indicative of certain new possibilities of reading Polish 21st century poetry.
