Regionalization and the functioning of Polish local administration
The changes in administrative divisions introduced in Poland, in particular the administrative reform in 1999, on the one hand they contributed to a significant diversity of the local government units, and this differentiation is present to this day, on the other hand, regionalization, understood as a process of assuming a deep and coherent decentralization of the country, favorably influenced the changes in local government, which in particular concerned the organization of local government and the scope of competence of the functioning of the government.
The aim of the article is to show how regionalization influenced the development of Polish local administration and functioning of the contemporary existing regions. Strong and in many respects, independent regions are nowadays more competitive, and more frequent use instruments of participatory democracy by the community, makes the development of regions occurs in more and more consistent with the expectations of territorial communities.
