Literariness against the culture of autobiography

Artykuł omawia relację między sposobem funkcjonowania kategorii „antyliterackości” i „literackości” we współczesnej krytyce literackiej a tym, co rozpoznane zostaje jako „kultura autobiografii” po przełomie 1989 roku. Na podstawie omówienia dwóch ostatnich dyskusji krytycznych wokół książek Kwiaty rozłączki Aleksandry Wstecz (2020) i Oto ciało moje Aleksandry Pakieły (2022) autorka próbuje odpowiedzieć na pytanie o to, jak ekspansja języków terapeutycznych i prymat opowieści o indywidualnym doświadczeniu traumatycznym przemodelowują warunki uprawiania krytyki literackiej.

The article discusses the relationship between the way the categories of “anti-literariness” and “literariness” operate in contemporary literary criticism and the “culture of autobiography” after the breakthrough of 1989. Based on two recent critical discussions around the books Kwiaty rozłączki by Aleksandra Wstecz (2020) and Oto ciało moje by Aleksandra Pakieła (2022), the author looks at how the expansion of therapeutic languages and the primacy of stories about individual traumatic experience are remodelling the conditions of literary criticism.
