Konteksty i źródła wczesnochrześcijańskiej poezji
In this article I present two works connected with two cultures, Semitic and Hellenic and I research poetic features each of them. These are the Eucharistic prayer from the "Didache" treatise (1st century) and the "Paschal Homily" of Melito of Sardis (2nd century), which stand out from the background of early Christian literature for their poetry, which is rare for this era. The chapters 9‒10 from Didache are a poetic prayer, strongly rooted in Semitic poetics, inspired by both the genres and content of the Old Testament books; in many places, the "Paschal Homily" has a poetic and rhythmic structure, and the main message of this homily is reading of the Old Testament as models. The synthesis of Greek and Semitic culture takes place on the linguistic level; in the case of the "Didache", the analogy to pagan prayer poetry may be accidental, although the hymnic features of the Eucharistic song are the same as in non-Christian works. In turn, the structure of the "Paschal Homily" is based on the Aristotelian principle of the division of speech, but the interwoven poetic passages make it a rhetorically ambiguous work
