International security as a theoretical construct in international relations

The article presents a brief analysis of the development of international security research within the theory of international relations. As a socially shaped phenomenon is constantly interpreted and reinterpreted, and therefore takes on new meanings and content. In the currently unstable international situation, when the world is restructuring so quickly and dynamically, we are witnessing the subsequent cracking of the boundaries of what has been built around ensuring peace and security since the beginning of the 20th century. It seems that we cannot understand international security only as estimates of the military capabilities and economic counterweights of states and supranational structures. The ideological foundation of the current order is no longer sufficient, because it is only a narrative created for one’s own use, limiting the possibilities of understanding the real state of affairs. Therefore, the aim of my analysis is to show international security as the development of thought, both on the basis of theoretical and research considerations, as well as its shaping by changing contexts and social perception.
