Kontakty polskich i czeskich środowisk prasowych na przełomie XIX i XX wieku w kontekście współpracy dziennikarzy słowiańskich jako nierozpoznany problem badawczy

The article presents the issue of relations between Polish and Czech journalists at the turn of the 20th century. The history of strengthening relations on the occasion of important cultural events and anniversaries in the last two decades of the 19th century was discussed. Then, contacts between Czechs and Poles during subsequent Congresses of Slavic Journalists were presented. Finally, the establishment of the Union of Slavic Journalists (1902) and the All-Slavic Union of Journalists (1908) was pointed out. Czech and Polish journalists played the main role in both organizations, although ultimately it was the Czechs who set the main tone of their activities. Due to the invitation of Russian journalists to the last journalistic congresses (in Sofia in 1910 and Belgrade in 1911), Poles withdrew, oficially, from participating in them. The article also indicates the examination of what research fields would allow us to delve deeper into the issue of relations between the Polish and Czech press at the turn of the 20th century. Knowledge of real networks of connections and examination of the issue of cooperation between Czech and Polish journalists may allow us to better understand the content published in the Polish and Czech press on the eve of the collapse of the Habsburg monarchy, as well as explain Polish-Czech relations after World War I, when a real conflict occurred between Poland and the Czechoslovakia.
