Zbigniew Edmund Brodowski : journalist, writer and Polish-American politician (1852-1901)

The article presents a short biography of a prominent Polish activist, journalist and, for a short period of time, President of the Polish National Alliance in America - Zbigniew Edmund Brodowski. Brodowski was active in the crucial years of a very deep ideological strugglebetween the PNA and the Polish Roman Catholic Union in America.The conflict concentrated around the question of the role that the Polish diaspora in the US should play in the struggle for Polish independence. Brodowski's writing and polemics were crucial for that period. He was later appointed Consul of the United States in Germany, which was the first such appointment for a person of Polish descent in America.
