Baudelaire’s axiology in the Norwidian context : an ethic approachment

Artykuł zderza twórczość Baudelaire'a z perspektywą pism Norwida poprzez zagadnienie moralnej odpowiedzialności. Pośrednikiem w tej lekturze jest Stanisław Brzozowski. Dyskusja nad (nie)moralnością Fleurs du mal i współczesna Norwidowi recepcja jego pism prowadzi do pytań o rozumienie katolicyzmu u obu pisarzy w dobie sekularyzacji, o miejsce zła w świecie, samotności, o stosunek do źródła transcendencji. Autorka dowodzi, że aksjologiczny horyzont nie znika ani z twórczości Norwida, ani - wbrew pozorom - Baudelaire'a.

The article confronts Baudelaire's work in the perspective of Norwid's writings through the issue of moral responsibility. The intermediary in this approach is Stanisław Brzozowski. The discussion over the (im)morality of Fleurs du mal and the XIX century reception of Norwid's writings leads to the understanding of Catholicism in both writers' works in the era of secularization, the place of evil in the world, loneliness, and the attitude to the source of transcendence as well. The article argues that the axiological horizon does not disappear either from the work of Norwid or, deceptively, from Baudelaire's one.
