Meetings at the table : the dining room as film metaphor of contestation

W niniejszej pracy przyglądam się metaforze jadalni w kinie włoskiej i hiszpańskiej kontestacji lat sześćdziesiątych i siedemdziesiątych. Proponuję analogię między działalnością kontestatorów a awangardystów z pierwszej połowy XX wieku. Na wybranych przykładach filmowych charakteryzuję ich twórczość przez pryzmat stosunku do współczesnej im rzeczywistości. Przedstawiam w jaki sposób ich filmy - a w szczególności zajmująca mnie metafora jadalni - odzwierciedla ich niechęć i buntowniczą postawę. Przedstawiam także ową metaforę jako wyraz po pierwsze - rewidowania przez kontestatorów kulturowych znaczeń, po drugie - ostrej krytyki burżuazyjnego społeczeństwa konsumpcyjnego.

In this thesis I focus on metaphor of a dining room in italian and spanish cinema of the sixties and seventies. I propose an analogy between the activity of representatives of contestation and vanguard artists from the first half of the 20th century. Using selected examples I characterize their work and their relation to the reality. I characterize the way in which way their films - and especially the discussed metaphor of a dining room - reveals their aversion and rebellious attitude. I also present this metaphor, firstly as an expression of reassessing cultural meanings by the representatives of contestation, secondly as harsh criticism of the bourgeois consumer society.
