"...Mais toute à moi, maîtresse de mes chairs..." Paul Valéry o dojrzewaniu przeznaczenia

The purpose of the essay is to read the poem "La Jeune Parque" (The Young Fate, 1917) by Paul Valéry, pointing out the character of the Moira, who, gradually discovering her carnality and spirituality, matures to her destiny as a Fate. Besides, the text concerns intertextual entanglements of Valéry’s poem, for example its relationship to Pierre Corneille’s and Molière’s tragicomedy "Psyché", or its multilayered references to ancient mythology. Moreover, the essay deals with the particular imaginary of life and death in Valéry’s poem. Being the theme of consciousness and unconsciousness a dominant thread of the poem, „La Jeune Parque” is also read in the context of depth psychology (ideas expressed in Valéry’s masterpiece seem to anticipate some aspects of Jungian analytical psychology and related theories). Last but not least, some final sentences concern the presence of "La Jeune Parque" in Poland.

Osadzona w kontekście historycznoliterackim propozycja interpretacji poematu "La Jeune Parque" (1917) Paula Valéry’ego eksponuje wątek Mojry, która stopniowo poznając własną cielesność i duchowość, dojrzewa do swego przeznaczenia. Ponadto tekst bada intertekstualne uwikłania utworu Valéry’ego, m. in. związek z tragikomedią Pierre’a Corneille’a i Moliera "Psyche", a także wielowarstwowe odniesienia do mitologii starożytnej. Refleksja dotyczy także specyficznego dla poematu imaginarium życia i śmierci. Ze względu na dominującą w utworze problematykę świadomościową, "La Jeune Parque" odczytywana jest również w kontekście psychologii głębi (idee wyrażone w dziele Valéry’ego wydają się antycypować niektóre aspekty psychologii Carla Gustava Junga i inspirowanych nią teorii rozwoju). Kilka końcowych zdań dotyczy obecności "Młodej Parki" w Polsce.
