The development of scientific terminology in the Upper Sorbian language

The development of Upper Sorbian terminology (and the Upper Sorbian language in general) can be divided into three stages: 1) the period of national revival (the second half of the 19th century); 2) the years after the Second World War; 3) the period after the socio-political revolution of 1989/1990. The political and social changes were accompanied by a rapid development of vocabulary, including terminology. At the same time, there appeared some tendencies that to varying degrees influenced the development of terminology of particular fields of science.

W rozwoju górnołużyckiej terminologii (i języka górnołużyckiego w ogóle) wymienić można trzy etapy: 1) okres odrodzenia narodowego (2. poł. XIX wieku); 2) lata po drugiej wojnie światowej; 3) okres po przewrocie społeczno-politycznym 1989/1990. Zmianom politycznym i społecznym towarzyszył gwałtowny rozwój słownictwa, w tym również terminologii. Jednocześnie pojawiały się pewne tendencje rozwojowe, które w różnym stopniu wpływały na kształtowanie się terminologii poszczególnych dziedzin nauki.
