Laboratory of Child Psychology
The Laboratory was created in 1977 by prof. dr hab. Maria Przetacznikowa and dr hab. Grażyna Makiełło - Jarża. Its goal was to provide a place for integrating the theory and practice of psychological research concerning children. The Laboratory operates in accordance with a self-developed system of psychological care whose main purpose is early detection and treatment of various disorders in children.
As the care is provided within the child’s natural environment i.e. in school, the Laboratory emphasizes the importance of educating parents and teachers and helps them gain a better understanding of children’s problems. Psychology students have classes at the Laboratory, in the form of specialist courses and trainings, during which they get acquainted with the problems concerning the diagnosis and treatment of developmental disorders as well as the ethics of research conducted on children with such disorders. The Laboratory also carries out research and scientific analysis. For more than 20 years the Laboratory was supervised by dr hab. Grażyna Makiełło-Jarża, the post being currently held by dr Jadwiga Wrońska.
