The memory of ritual - between biology and identity : Czeslaw Miloszs sase

Artykuł przygląda się funkcjom częstych w literaturze polskiej literaturze XX-wiecznej uwag o nabożeństwach zapamiętanych przez autorów z dzieciństwa bądź innego formującego okresu życia. Argumentacja prowadzi do wniosku, że Czesław Miłosz wyrażał niechęć do otrzymanego w dzieciństwie rytualnego „treningu”, jednak z czasem podjął pracę nad swoją tożsamością w kontekście tych zależności, także na drodze tekstualnych problematyzacji relacji między racjonalnością i wiarą, rytuałem i teatrem, jednostką i zbiorowością, tym, co religijne, i co świeckie.

The article examines the literary functions of the catholic ritual as remembered by Polish XXth century authors from their childhood or other forming period of life. The argumentation leads to the conclusion that Czesław Miłosz firstly expressed his aversion to the ritual "training" received in childhood, but over time he began to work on his identity in the context of these dependencies, also through the textual problematization of the relationship between rationality and faith, ritual and theater, unit and collectiveness what is religious and what is secular.
