Nieoswojone i nieoznaczone : Claude Levi-Strauss i Zygmunt Bauman

This paper is devoted to an analysis of the inspirations Zygmunt Bauman drew from Levi-Strauss for almost his entire scientific work. The first part of the paper concentrates on both the period of Baumańs activity that he himself called 'Levi-Straussian' (1965-1970) and the years directly following it. We draw attention to the way Levi-Strauss' antropology influenced the development of Baumans theory of culture. The second part of the paper is devoted to analysing the 'Levi-Straussian' inspirations as far as Baumans works on postmodernity and liąuid modernity are concerned. We concentrate both on the issue of proliferation of uncertainty and the process of the emergence of contradictory phenomena. Throughtout the work, we emphasise the extraordinary timeliness of Levi-Strauss's work for contemporary reflections on culture.

Myślą przewodnią artykułu jest inspiracja Zygmunta Baumana pracami Levi-Straussa niemalże w całej jego pracy naukowej. Wskazujemy także na to, jak refleksje autora "Smutku tropików", poświęcone inności, obcości i wykluczeniu, znalazły odzwierciedlenie w pracach Baumana. W pierwszej części, obejmującej wzmiankowany "okres Levi-Straussowski’", a także lata następujące bezpośrednio po nim, koncentrujemy się na rozwijanych wówczas przez Baumana analizach z zakresu teorii kultury i filozofii nauki. W części drugiej, zwracamy uwagę na jego prace poświęcone nowoczesności i jej przemianom. W całym artykule dążymy zarówno do unaocznienia ciągłości wpływu Levi-Straussa na myśl Baumana, jak i do wskazania na wyjątkowe znaczenie twórczości tego pierwszego dla współczesnej refleksji nad kulturą.
