Modlitwa Lacedemończyków : czyli o poszukiwaniu Absolutu

In ancient Greece, prayer was treated most of all as a plea. It resulted from a specifically understood relationship between a man and god (relationship of a weak man to a mighty god). The term "Lacedaemonians’ Prayer" that functioned in the ancient Greece was used to set forth the plea for what is good and beautiful. It could also stand for worthy silence, something like contemplation and meditation - it seems to be a proof that here was a non-verbal prayer at that time. Such a prayer may be treated as a manifestation of the religious form started by Orphics, Pythagoras, Xenophanes and Herakleitos - aiming at deepening the religious life and making it more spiritual and rejecting the traditional, anthropomorphic perceiving the gods. "Lacedaemonians’ Prayer" should be connected with the activities of orphics, and Pythagoreans, and mystic and mystery trends, aiming at finding a new, specific way of communication with the Absolute.
