The present thesis concerns the role of social work in context of mourning. So far, have been written only few publications about this subject. However, mourning is a common, there is an urgent need to study this phenomenon. The purpose of this study was to investigate what are the aims, methods and conditions of social work for people in mourning. It was found that: there are no social work’s methods of work with people in mourning; social workers’ interventions are mostly limited to financial and service support and also sending to other specialist like a psychologist; the main need of social workers is to increase competences in this area through participation in training; mourning is dealt with in crisis intervention centers, but in practice the social worker does not work in such place or has no contact with people who are in mourning. The author of this thesis recommends to repeat the survey on larger group of respondents.
